One of those days

You ever have one of those days where it's not just one thing....
It's everything, all at once, in rapid succession, like the universe woke up and chose mild, but relentless.
Yeah. Today.
It started before I even had a chance.
One dog peed on the stairs. Not near the stairs. Not at the bottom.
On. The. Stairs. A bold, strategic choice.
While I'm processing that, the other dog throws up on the carpet.
Of course! Because why would bodily fluids be contained to one surface?
Cool. We're cleaning. We're disinfecting. We're thriving.
We are not thriving.
I finally make it down one flight of stairs to the sound of an alarm going off like a fire drill, while my teentard remains fast asleep. Fully committed to ignoring reality.
"Hello?? Do you not hear your alarm clock blaring?"
"Bruh! There's no school today!"
Then what the hell is the alarm for??
I'm ready to file a formal complaint against today by the time I make it to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee.
I walk the dogs. I come back.
The other teen is pouring the last of the milk into her cereal.
Perfect!
So now we're drinking black coffee... that I did not consent to.
Fine. Shower.
No hot water.
At this point, I'm not even surprised. I'm just standing there, questioning my life choices under a stream of liquid disappointment.
Regroup. Get dressed. Move on.
Then you spill the coffee.
Not all of it. Just enough to ruin your shirt and your attitude.
Cool cool cool.
You change.
The new shirt? Wrinkled
The iron? Missing.
Because of course it is. It sprouted legs and moved on to a better life.
Time to take out the garbage. The bag breaks. Not a small tear. Not a dignified rip.
A full, catastrophic, everything-hits-the-floor situation. Coffee grounds. Mystery crumbs.
Something sticky that absolutely has a story I do not want to hear.
Now you're sweaty, annoyed, and somehow already exhausted - and it's not even 9am.
Off to the garage, where my keyless has decided to stop working... and a repairman has parked so close, I'm basically doing a 12-point turn just to escape my own life.
When I finally make it to the exit, I slam on the brakes for a completely oblivious workout Barbie - headphones in, eyes on her phone, just strolling through life like she has health insurance and peace of mind.
And here's the thing - none of this is huge. There's no emergency. No crisis.
Just a perfectly coordinated series of minor inconveniences that have collectively decided:
"We're going to ruin her today."
By the time I make it to work, my brain is gone. Not distracted. Not busy. Gone.
I open my laptop and stare at the screen like it personally betrayed me. I read the same email four times. Still don't know what it says.
I start a task. Forget what I'm doing halfway through. Open another tab. Now I have 17 tabs open and zero accomplishments.
And then someone hits you with a simple question. "Hey, quick thing..."
No. There is no "quick thing" today.
There is only me, hanging on by a thread... and you adding weight.
By 1pm, I've accomplished nothing measurable, lost all ability to concentrate, and reached a level of irritation that feels... earned.
So now it's wine or witness protection.
Because this day was nothing short of a crime, and I have officially used up all of my coping skills.
Today didn't come in hot. It came in petty, persistent, and deeply committed to my downfall - a series of tiny, perfectly timed inconveniences stacked on top of each other like emotional Jenga.
So if you see me today and I seem a little off, just know:
I'm not dramatic.
I'm not overreacting.
I'm simply responding... to a day that has been consistently disrespectful since sunrise.
